Yatzy (Dansk)

The classic and timeless dice game Yatzy originates from the 50s and is a very simple game, but at the same time it is incredibly exciting and fun.

The game involves each participant having three throws to make the dice yield as many of the same as possible or one of the other combinations listed on the block. The total sum is subsequently entered in the correct column on the block. The goal is to fill out boxes on the paper, otherwise, you score 0 points in the unfilled ones.

The game nicely combines luck with a bit of strategy and is a good place to start if the youngest ones need to learn a bit about probability or just want to have fun!

How to play Yatzy:

The classic Yatzy is played with 5 dice.

A round is played by throwing the five dice and keeping those you want to use for this round's combination, each combination can only be used once. That is, if you have already had five of a kind, you cannot roll five of a kind again.

Then you throw the remaining dice. You can throw a total of three times. When you hit a combination, you score the number of points the eyes on the used dice show, or in special cases, the low (small straight) and the high (large straight), a set number of points. Additionally, if you achieve Yatzy, you get 50 points on top.

If you do not hit one of the combinations, which become fewer and fewer during the game, you must put a zero in front of one of the missing ones.

The "Chance" field is used when you have not collected a usable combination, and you add up the eyes for the dice you ended up with. Yatzy is the combination where you have five of a kind, and this is the best combination of the game.

• A pair – two of a kind
• Two pairs – two + two of a kind
• Three of a kind
• Four of a kind

• Full house – three + two of a kind
• Chance – free choice
• Yatzy – Five of a kind
